Welcome! My name is Shirley-Ann, and I am a Christian, Wife, homeschooling mum, freelance writer and blogger.
I am a homeschooling mum and we are into our 11th year of homeschooling. My eldest daughter graduated our homeschool in 2016 and is currently studying Art and Design at art college. My youngest daughter is 16 and has two years left in our homeschool.
11 years ago God called us to teach our children at home and to bring them up knowing, loving and serving Him. I admit that this journey has not been the easy choice and along with the multitude of blessed and precious memories we have created, I have also suffered from periods of self-doubt, fear, and burnout. However, God is exceedingly good and He has covered all of my short-comings and made my life’s work of raising and teaching my children a blessing, and it is with great joy that we see our children walking with the King!
We have followed a largely Charlotte Mason philosophy in our homeschool. In exploring Miss Mason’s philosophy and putting her methods into action in our homeschool, I have developed a passion for introducing children and their parents to nature study & keeping a nature journal. I share allot about homeschooling, how-tos and articles of interest to those in the thick of homeschooling their children.
The well-being of a homeschooling mum is also something that has been laid on my heart. We are not ‘just’ homeschooling mums. In addition to our roles as teacher, and mother, we harbour our own dreams and hopes. We are women who like to feel beautiful, who want to nurture our own interests, perhaps grow a sideline business. We face the same issues that other women do, and then some. These are some of the things you will read about here.
Finally, I blog about life in England. I am not English, we immigrated to England in 2011 from Cape Town, South Africa, but for as long as I can remember I have loved the land of my ancestors and always dreamed of living here. I know that many of my readers are self-confessed Anglophiles and love to get a peek and learn more of this amazing country – and I am happy to oblige.
So thank you for popping by and visiting. I hope that you enjoy what you find here, please feel free to chime in by leaving me a comment. It is good to hear from my readers and not just see you on my stats.
May you experience every blessing today.
